About Paternayan Yarns
It was 1916 in New York City where the journey began with the Paternayan brothers, Harry and Karnig. It was a journey to develop what has now grown into a 418 color wool program. Known for its subtle color shading built on a base of domestic and New Zealand wool having strength, durability and luster, this beloved 3 ply yarn is used by the needle arts community, the Persian rug design and repair sector and tapestry weavers. The Paternayan story and journey has continued for over a 100 years. Today, Maine Dye & Textiles (formerly Saco River Dyehouse) is the owner and caretaker of the Paternayan brand.
